Getting to
the Reefs

Once you fly into L.F. Wade International Airport, you have various options for transportation.

To preserve our island’s relaxed atmosphere, rental cars are not permitted. To get to our resort, you can hire a cab or let us know in advance and we'll assist with your airport transfer.

During your stay, you can do as the locals do and travel by scooter, take a taxi, use the public bus system, hop on a ferry, or even take a horse-drawn carriage.

David Dodwell Sr.

President

At the head of our family-owned and operated resort, David Dodwell has fined-tuned our business of hospitality into a labor of love, commitment, and caring for the last 40 years. In addition to running our beloved resort, he has served as Bermuda’s minister of tourism, president of the Bermuda Hotel Association, and as a continual member of the Resort Committee of the American Hospitality & Lodging Association. He has been recognized as the Bermuda Hotelier of the Year and Caribbean Hotelier of the Year. He also owns the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club on Nevis.

David Dodwell Jr.

General Manager

Having grown up in the hotel industry David Dodwell, Jr. is carrying on the family tradition. He started out in the housekeeping department at The Reefs at age 13 and spent many summers working in various roles here and at other Bermuda hotels before heading off to college in the US and working in the hospitality industry in various cities throughout New England, California, and Oregon. After earning a Master of Management in Hospitality from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, he returned to Bermuda and is now our resort’s general manager. He, along with his wife, Kathleen, are introducing their two children, William and Annie, to the hospitality industry.

Marielle Arneaud

Director of Operations

As director of operations, Marielle works to ensure our resort runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis. She is passionate about culinary excellence, guest service, and creating memorable experiences for all our guests. She was born, raised, and educated in Trinidad, where she also began working in the hospitality industry at 18. She pursued her Food and Beverage Management career in the UK and the British Virgin Islands before moving to Bermuda in 2015.

Ashley Belchior

Spa Director

Ashley began her career as a spa experience coordinator and supervisor and has moved through multiple roles, including spa sales manager and assistant spa director. She fell in love with leading a team and directly engaging with clientele by creating innovative treatments and unique offerings. She has been a spa advocate in Bermuda since 2008 promoting her passion for turning moments into memories.

Hazel M. Cadette

Executive Housekeeper

With more than 30 years in the hospitality industry, Hazel M. Cadette has performed various management positions throughout the Caribbean. She studied Hospitality Management in Trinidad, the People’s Republic of China, and most recently, at Florida Atlantic University. As head of housekeeping, she’s proud to be part of a team that takes care of its employees, guests, and the community.

Jaco Cronje

Director of Engineering

Coming all the way from South Africa, Jaco brings a wealth of knowledge to our engineering team. He worked in the construction and building industry for over 16 years and has more than 18 years of experience in both local and luxury international hotels. Among his many talents is an in-depth understanding of all MEP systems. With an eye for detail and a passion for health and safety, his goal is to ensure all guests have a fantastic experience throughout their stay.

Chris Garland

Bars and Restaurant Manager

Chris Garland joined our team as Bars and Restaurant Manager in September of 2022 and has 20 plus years of Food & Beverage experience. As a born Bermudian Chris brings with him a plethora of experience as a Restaurant Entrepreneur but also an incredible understanding of the Bermudian Culture, Cuisine and History. He is passionate, a great listener But most of all he enjoys making guest experiences here at The Reefs memorable. His team is here to serve you and put you “Perfectly at Ease”
