TRAVEL + LEISURE NAMES THE REEFS ONE OF THE WORLD’S BEST HOTELS
IN THE CARIBBEAN, BERMUDA AND THE BAHAMAS
SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda — Travel + Leisure’s travel experts have named The Reefs #9 of all hotels in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas. The Reefs was the only
Bermuda hotel to make the list.
In their sixth annual “T + L 500,” Travel + Leisure's global team of reporters and editors
culled the 500 highest-rated hotels from their World's Best survey, acknowledging what
differentiates them from their competitors. The entire list of 500 hotels is published in
the January 2008 issue of Travel + Leisure which is on news stands now.
For more than 10 years, The Reefs has resided among the world’s best hotels.
Celebrating 60 years of superior hospitality, The Reefs continues to wow uests with its
personal service, intimate setting and spectacular views.
Managing Director Ben Tutt says the ratings reflect the efforts of The Reefs’ outstanding
staff. “We strive to ensure that each guest enjoys an unparalleled experience. We hear
from them that they will return, and they do. More than half of our guests are here for
the second time or more.”
In addition, Readers in Condé Nast Traveler’s 20th annual famed Readers’ Choice
Awards named The Reefs as one of the top five Atlantic Ocean Resorts. Bermuda was
named number one of all the islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic, and The Reefs was
the only Bermuda property to make the list. The Readers’ Choice Awards were
announced in the November issue of Conde Nast Traveler.
To continue to maintain its exceptional level of service, The Reefs is undergoing
enhancements. From now until April 1, 2008, The Reefs will be closed for renovations.
When The Reefs reopens in April, the new and expanded bar and lounge, reception,
lobby and restrooms will be completed. The first guests of the season will have the
opportunity to see the redesign. Availability will be limited as not all of the rooms will be
open.
When the hotel reopens in July, the two new restaurants and kitchen will be fully
operational. La Serena Spa will continue to offer all of its luxurious treatments in the
spa and on the beach throughout the renovation; however, in 2009, La Serena Spa will
move to an expanded space, tripling in size. All of these enhancements will ensure the
best experience for guests to The Reefs for years to come.
During the time The Reefs is closed, construction of the new Reefs Club private
residences will be under construction next door. Those who enjoy visiting The Reefs to
“feel perfectly at ease” in beautiful Bermuda, now can “live perfectly at ease” through
fractional ownership of these two- and three-bedroom homes. For information on the
residences, due to open in 2009 please visit www.reefsclub.com.
