Forbes Traveler has named The Reefs in the Forbes Traveler 400, a prestigious list of the World's Very Best Hotels and Resorts. A panel of travel professionals rated the world's top-ranked hotels in seven criteria ranging from décor to service. The most exceptional of these hotels were selected for the Forbes Traveler 400. Wireless Internet Now Available
Send a note to friends and family. Touch base with the office. The Reefs is happy to announce that wireless internet is now available to guests in the Lounge, TV Room, Ocean Echo Bar and Terrace, as well as the Grill
56 Dining Room. All that is required to access the wireless network is a laptop computer with wireless capability. Laptops will automatically connect to the Internet once switched on.

One of the World's Best for Service
Travel + Leisure Magazine once again proclaimed The
Reefs as one of the finest hotels for service in the entire
Caribbean,Bahamas and Bermuda Region. The Reefs ranked third,
trailing Jamaica Inn by less than half a point. The Reefs was
the only Bermuda hotel to appear on the World's Best Service list.
"All the credit for this award goes to the dedicated and
hard working staff at this fine hotel. They have proven themselves
time and time again to exemplify the finest of Bermudian hospitality.
They are a credit to the hotel, the island and all the people of
Bermuda,"commented Ben Tutt, newly appointed Managing Director
for The Reefs.

Queen for a Day

The Queen's Certificate and Badge of Honour for services to the
hospitality sector has been given to the longest serving member
of staff at The Reefs Beach Club, Sylvia Celeste Bean who joined
the South Shore resort in 1952.
Over the year's she has been a waitress, assistant maitre'd and
maitre'd. Although she retired as captain of the dining room in
2003, Ms. Bean still arranges afternoon teas for guests five
days a week |

New Resort Managing Director
David Dodwell announced William "Ben" Tutt as The Reefs third top
manager in 34 years.
"The Reefs has a history of retaining highly qualified
individuals known for providing a superior guest experience,"
said Mr. Dodwell. "We are fortunate to have such an energetic
and accomplished individual to lead the resort now and through our
upcoming refurbishment and expansion."
Ben joined The Reefs family from the Wyndham Martineau Bay Resort
and Spa in Vieques. Having grown up helping his family manage the
Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado, we look forward to
great things to come.

Back-to-Back Home Run
Fresh off the announcement that it was named one of the "Top
500 Hotels" by Travel + Leisure Magazine, The Reefs
just learned it was named one of the "World's Best Places to
Stay" by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.
"This is very exciting for the hotel and speaks volumes about
the hard work and dedication of The Reefs' staff,"says Debbie
MacMillan, executive assistant manager. "We are blessed with
a wonderful location, but we'd be nothing without our staff. Evidently
our guests agree - the highest rating we received was for service."

December 2005
New Year's Plunge
The Reefs enjoyed a full house this holiday season, culminating
in a record number of hearty souls diving into the Atlantic on New
Year's Eve Day.
Forty-seven merry-makers proved that they could survive a great party (including
a conga line led by General Manager Neal Stephens) and still have
the energy to brave the waves the next morning.
The "Deer Girls" Ring in the New Year
The "Deer Girls," a group of friends from NJ, celebrated their
2006 New Year together at The Reefs with their husbands.

As one of the
Deer Girls, Evie Pollock, says of the the friends' search for the
perfect New Year's location, "We looked into many areas, including
as far away as Ireland!! ... After much researching, The Reefs was
the place for us. And to say it did not disappoint is an understatement."

who have encountered Sylvia Bean, Waitress Extraordinaire
in the Clubhouse Restaurant, will be excited to know
her warm professionalism is officially
award-winning.
In the Bermuda Hospitality
and Tourism industry's equivalent
of the Oscars, Sylvia placed first in the "Best Waiter/Hostess"
category.
Two
other Reefs employees were finalists: Jennifer Johnson
in the Administrative category and Shahaki
Talbot in the "Young Person with Most Promise" category.
Both won airline tickets for USA3000. |
