Bermuda's Reefs Club Owners to Receive Exclusive Golf Privileges |
 |
 |
The Reefs Club, Bermuda's new private residence club, has
been welcoming its owners since July 2009. Given that the island boasts the world's most golf
courses per square mile, many of these owners are avid golfers. And now they are being
offered special annual memberships to the nearby Port Royal Golf Course. As Port Royal
members, Reefs Club owners may also participate in all member tournaments and activities.
Ranked among the world's best public golf courses by Golf Digest and named Bermuda's
finest course by The New York Times, Port Royal features 18 championship holes over 6,842
manicured yards, the longest and most scenic course in all of Bermuda. Designed in 1970 by
architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course recently underwent a $14.5 million renovation.
Breathtaking views of the turquoise-colored Atlantic can be experienced from nearly every
hole. Port Royal is host to the 2009/10 PGA Grand Slam of Golf for which members are entitled
to free tickets. Reduced greens fees are available to guests of Reefs Club members.
"In essence, we are offering The Reefs Club owners the opportunity to have both a beach and
golf vacation- home experience," explains David Dodwell, president of The Reefs Hotel & Club.
"While the Club provides a private beach, our owners who are golfers can be on the Port Royal
links just five minutes away. Clearly, it made sense to establish this mutually beneficial
relationship with an outstanding golf course that is so close to the property."
Situated next to The Reefs, Bermuda's most award-winning hotel, The Reefs Club offers the
same exceptional service and private pink-sand beach for which the hotel is renowned. Club
owners also enjoy exclusive amenities, including an infinity-edge pool, rooftop putting green,
state-of-the-art fitness center, and owners' lounge. The Reefs' three fine restaurants and new
La Serena Spa are shared by both properties, and owners receive a 10 percent discount at the
spa and restaurants.
The Reefs Club maintains the hotel's intimacy by offering just 19 two- and three-bedroom
residences, all with unobstructed ocean views and private hot tubs on the verandas.
Residences are furnished in contemporary Bermudian style and feature amenities such as flat
screen televisions, spa bathrooms, and gourmet kitchens. One-tenth fractional ownership
starts at $350,000, providing owners flexible and generous use. The Reefs Club offers one of
the only ways non-Bermudians can own vacation real estate on the island.
Bermuda is just two hours or less from most East Coast cities, making the island a logical and
accessible second home destination. |

The Reefs Club, Bermuda's Newest Private Residence Club, Opens to Rave Reviews |
 |
 |
The Reefs Club, Bermuda's highly anticipated private residence club, is now open and has already welcomed several enthusiastic owners. The luxurious, shared ownership property is one of the few ways foreigners may purchase a Bermuda vacation home. Strict government regulations have limited the sale of whole ownership real estate to non-Bermudians, paving the way for the sensible, convenient ownership The Reefs Club offers.
"It's been tremendously gratifying to finally welcome owners to The Reefs Club and see how it has lived up to their very high expectations," reports David Dodwell, president of The Reefs Club. "The response has been fantastic, and we enjoy witnessing positive, first-time reactions from our owners.”
Steve Comeau, an owner at The Reefs Club, recently vacationed at the new property. "For those considering a fractional residence, it all comes down to the math," he explains. "Take the best services of a five-star hotel, plus all the space and amenities of a beautiful new home, minus 1000 headaches. Then, put it in Bermuda."
"The Reefs Club is even better and more beautiful than we expected," comments owner Paula Ganzi. "No details were missed to make this spacious, fully equipped residence luxurious ... We have vacationed in Bermuda for over 25 years, and now we are so happy to have our own place to enjoy as often as we can. This is a dream come true for us, our family, and our friends!"
Another owner of The Reefs Club, Rudy Valli, adds, "A vacation home at the top of The Reefs Club brings Bermuda to a whole new level." |

The Reefs Club Opens July 2009 |
 |
 |
The Reefs Club is nearing completion and is on schedule to welcome the first owners arriving on July 3, 2009. The luxurious, shared ownership property is one of the few ways foreigners may purchase a Bermuda vacation home. Strict government regulations have limited the sale of whole ownership real estate to non-Bermudians, paving the way for the sensible, convenient ownership The Reefs Club offers to island enthusiasts.
"Most of our owners are American, so we're glad to have The Reefs Club ready for them to visit during the Independence Day holiday," says David Dodwell, president of The Reefs. "We've all been highly anticipating the completion of this spectacular property. It's hard to believe the opening is just six weeks from now."
"With the economy beginning to show signs of recovery, I am confident we'll have increased interest in The Reefs Club from visitors during the high season we're now entering," Mr. Dodwell says. "Now is the ideal time to explore Club ownership, especially while we’re still offering pre-completion pricing." |

The Reefs Club, Bermuda's Newest Residence Club, Appoints General Manager |
 |
 |
The Reefs Club, scheduled to open July 2009, has appointed Nagma Walker to the position of General Manager. Walker, a seasoned hospitality professional, joins The Reefs Club team from Ariel Sands Hotel and Beach Club, where she also held the position of General Manager since 2005.
"We're pleased that Nagma has joined The Reefs' family," says David Dodwell, president of The Reefs. "She brings us a great deal of management experience in the luxury hospitality industry. I can't think of anyone in Bermuda better suited to lead the way in opening The Reefs Club and welcoming our new owners when they arrive in July to vacation in their residences for the first time."
Nagma Walker has come on board early to become completely familiar with the hotel operation as The Reefs and The Reefs Club are designed to be synergistic. As general manager of The Reefs Club, Ms. Walker is responsible for managing the Club, its services, and staff. She will also maintain strong relationships with owners and guests to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to open The Reefs Club and be a part of the team from the start," Nagma Walker says. "This is an exceptional, beach front property that will provide unrivaled luxury, services, and amenities to Bermuda enthusiasts. I look forward to meeting our owners who have been eagerly anticipating the Club's debut."
Visitors booking stays at The Reefs may choose to rent the Club residences until inventory has been sold. The limited opportunity is available just once per guest. |

Bermuda's Newest Vacation Property, The Reefs Club, Attracts Canadian Interest |
 |
 |
Widely renowned for its hospitality, turquoise-colored water, and pink-sand beaches, Bermuda is one of the most accessible island destinations for Canadians. The ideal location and climate render Bermuda a logical second home destination, but for years real estate has been virtually unattainable for foreigners. The recent advent of fractional ownership, however, is finally attracting greater numbers of foreign buyers. The newest such property is The Reefs Club, a private residence club due to open June 2009 next to Bermuda’s most award-winning hotel, The Reefs.
While Bermuda's government strictly limits the sale of whole ownership real estate to non-Bermudians – a practice which drives home prices into the millions of dollars – The Reefs Club offers affordable luxury with hotel-style services and amenities. Despite the current recession, Canadians are showing a keen interest.
"We are receiving an enthusiastic response, particularly from Calgary and Toronto residents," reports Sales Director Chrissy Frith. "They have a strong affinity for Bermuda thanks to easy flight access, desirable weather, natural beauty, and friendliness of Bermudians. One Canadian couple that has visited Bermuda for over 30 years always wanted a home here, but found real estate to be prohibitively priced. The Reefs Club is a perfect solution because of the fractional price, unprecedented strength of the Canadian dollar, and its prime location on a private beach."
"Given the number of repeat visitors who have been fiercely loyal to The Reefs over the hotel's long history, we wanted to create an opportunity for them – and other Bermuda enthusiasts – to own a piece of this special property," explains Reefs' President David Dodwell, who has been with the property for 35 years. "We've designed ownership at The Reefs Club to be completely enjoyable and hassle-free," he adds. "Because the residence club is fully staffed, all maintenance and housekeeping is professionally handled for our members. Most importantly, owners will enjoy the same award-winning service and hospitality The Reefs continues to win prestigious awards for."
Reefs Club owners have access to all residences in their ownership category, which expands the availability. They are welcome to visit as often as they like, according to Club reservation policies.
Canadians travel easily to Bermuda on Air Canada non-stop flights from Toronto and Halifax. Convenient connections are available from many East Coast U.S. cities offering two-hour flights to the island. |

Reefs Club Engages Award-Winning Hospitality Design Firm |
 |
 |
Bermuda's most award winning hotel, The Reefs, has teamed up with Vision Design, one of the most renowned interior design firms specializing in the luxury hospitality industry. The Reefs has engaged the Dallas-based Vision Design to conceptualize a luxurious, Bermuda-inspired look for The Reefs Club, a private residence club opening in 2009 next to the hotel on the same secluded pink sand beach.
Vision Design's impressive client list includes Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Ritz Carlton Hotels, Fairmont Hotels, and St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. Interior Design Magazine has recognized the company as Hospitality Design Giants, and Hotel & Motel Management named it Top Design Firm.
David Dodwell, developer of The Reefs Club, says, "We devoted considerable time to researching a suitable interior design firm. Vision Design emerged as an obvious choice as their portfolio reflects the luxurious, yet comfortable setting we envisioned for The Reefs Club. It is important to us that our owners enjoy first-class furnishings and design that parallels the high standard of service and amenities our hotel is known for."
Residences have been meticulously designed to harmonize with the relaxed, slightly exotic Bermudian lifestyle. Pastel hues, rich fabrics and mahogany furnishings are inspired by island landscapes. Expansive windows and sliding glass doors maximize the panoramic ocean views. Bubbled glass countertops, beached-wood floors and stone accents echo sand and sea foam. Gourmet kitchens feature Sub Zero and Thermador appliances custom mahogany buffet with wine refrigerator.
Additional features include washer and dryer, a jetted hot tub on the private balcony of each residence, spa bathrooms, and flat-screen televisions in bedrooms and living rooms.
"Working within the classic Bermudian design style while at the same time introducing the latest trends in materials and technologies has been a gratifying challenge," says Dan Nelson, President of Vision Design.

Bermuda's Reefs Club Joins the Elite Alliance |
 |
 |
The same first class service and hospitality The Reefs in Bermuda has long been renowned for is now being offered to families wishing to own a second home on the island. Construction recently began on The Reefs Club - a private Equity Residence Club offering hassle free vacations at a fraction of the price of traditional island homes. In addition to enjoying the spectacular private beachfront location, rooftop putting green, and infinity pool with a breathtaking location at ocean's edge, owners of The Reefs Club will benefit from this caliber of luxury at other properties offered by the Elite Alliance.
The Elite Alliance is an exchange program for owners at a select, growing family of luxury residence clubs. The simple exchange process allows these residence club owners to enjoy travel adventures - ski trips, golf getaways, beach escapes and much more - at an array of destinations worldwide. Clubs in the alliance meet premium standards of quality, service, location and amenities.
"The Reefs Club is delighted to be joining this distinguished group of private residence clubs, with its membership in the Elite Alliance," says David Dodwell, The Reefs Club developer. "Club owners are being given the opportunity to add some of the world's finest destinations to their list of vacation options which really enhances their membership in The Reefs Club. I also look forward to welcoming other club members from the Elite Alliance to our special place on the South Shore here in Southampton, Bermuda."
Reefs Club members will be offered enticing vacations at the following The Residence Club at PGA West (La Quinta, CA), The Residence Club at Tucker’s Point (Tucker’s Town, Bermuda), Club Quinta Real (Huatulco, Mexico), 80|50 Private Residence Club (Mammoth Lakes, CA), The Residence Club at Teton Springs (Teton Valley, ID), and The Villas at Seven Canyons (Sedona, AZ).
Considering the average second homeowner typically spends only three to four weeks per year at their property, fractional home ownership has proven to be a smarter way to own an exclusive home in Bermuda. Government restrictions on property owned by non-Bermudians, coupled with under supply and over demand, are driving home prices into the millions – making it hard for frequent visitors to actually buy on the small island. A comparable home at The Reefs Club starts in the mid-$300's.
The Reefs Club offers fully furnished two and three bedroom homes with unobstructed ocean views, just steps away from award-winning restaurants, a private pink sand beach, and world class diving and snorkeling. Owners enjoy the convenience of concierge service and personal storage for sporting equipment and clothing.
The luxury shared ownership concept has grown into a $2.1 billion industry, reports industry consulting firm Ragatz Associates. Residence Clubs now grace some of the world’s most exclusive destinations, from Cabo San Lucas and Aspen, to Manhattan and Florence. Although often confused with timeshares and destination clubs, private residence clubs are quite different. Residence Club owners actually own deeded real estate, which can be sold, willed or placed in a trust just like any other form of real estate. Owners are part of an exclusive vacation country club, and reserve accommodations well in advance, and on a short-notice, space-available basis. |

Its spectacular beachfront location, rooftop putting green, and pre-arrival grocery service are just a few amenities that make The Reefs Club the perfect luxury getaway.
"The more we researched and asked our guests about fractional ownership, the more we realized it's ideal for people who want to own something in Bermuda, don't want the year-round responsibilities, and want to be able to keep it in the family," says David Dodwell, The Reefs Club developer. "Even before we broke ground, the response from repeat guests and their families has been exciting," Dodwell says. "And because they'll own a piece of The Reefs, they can come more often and enjoy the dining, the spa and the private beach."
